Who can engage in Play Therapy?
Play Therapy is an intervention that can be used across the lifespan. Theresa has provided counselling to children/teens/ couples/ groups and families. There are many various play therapy models and tools that can be utilized to address the short-term or long term issue that is bringing the individual(s) to therapy. Talking can also occur!
Theresa Fraser has engaged in extensive Play Therapy training worldwide including Play Therapy Supervisor training. She has won provincial, national and international awards for her mental health service provision.
She also can provide trauma assessment and training. She can provide you with EMDR. She has training in Theraplay(c) , SAFE (adoption home studies), Parent Capacity Assessments, as well as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy.
In addition to academic preparation, she has over 30 years of experience supporting individuals as they navigate lifetime challenges and obstacles. Theresa is a registered member of the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists and the Ontario Association of Psychotherapy as well as the Canadian Association for Play Therapy. She is on the board of the Nova Scotia Association of Child and Youth Care Workers. At the Canadian Association for Play Therapy AGM (May, 2019) she was named the Association President for a returning term. Theresa is a Leadership Academy Graduate of the Association for Play Therapy (USA).
Individuals can be referred to Play Therapy services by using the GET IN TOUCH BUTTON at the top of this web page. Services are provided on a sliding scale. Theresa is a Blue Cross Insurance provider and as a member of NSCCT, she can provide services to various company families such as the staff employed by St. Francis Xavier University in nearby Antigonish. She can schedule appointments both evenings and weekends.
